Join the Seward Concert Band on a musical journey with our “World Traveler concert. This concert features the world premiere of Carol Barnett’s newest piece, “Postcards from Portugal”.
We hope you can make it on Friday, March 28, 2025 at 7:30 PM. The concert will be held in the auditorium of Southwest High School, at 3414 W 47th St, Minneapolis, MN 55410. Suggested donation is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors, and $4 for students and children.
Carol Barnett is a local composer, known for writing diverse works that break the mold of traditional musical styles, meters, and instrument combinations. “Postcards from Portugal” is inspired by Carol’s recent travels in Europe, where she found herself fascinated by the culture and music of Portugal.
This concert will also feature pieces that draw from global traditions including Shelly Hanson’s “Albanian Dance” and Gavin Lendt’s tribute to the southwest, “Mesa Dances”.
